85% of Patients With NRAS-Mutated Melanoma Achieved a Complete Response With This Treatment

A small study is reporting remarkable results for patients with NRAS-mutated melanoma whose cancer had progressed after immunotherapy.

Researchers combined T-VEC, an FDA-approved oncolytic virus injected directly into tumors, with binimetinib, a targeted MEK inhibitor.

6 of 7 patients (85.7%) achieved a complete response — including patients with distant disease and brain metastases.

The researchers believe the combination may work by activating and expanding the body's own tumor-fighting T cells.

The findings are extremely early — this was a small observational group of only seven patients, and the research is currently a preprint that has not yet been peer reviewed.
